As a gamer I have been on record saying I absolutely do not care about resolution one bit. That being said, deceiving an entire group of gamers is just about the most awful thing you can do to them. You might not like Microsoft and you may have disliked their original DRM plans, but at least they were up front with everyone right from the start. Sony has a terrible habit of lying over and over to their fan base and it's hardly ever mentioned. I could go over a list dating back to the debacle that was Sony's E3 2005, I could bring up how the PS3 was supposed to have dual HDMI's and run every game at 1080p 60fps....but more importantly Sony's slogan is "We're for the gamers". How in the world can you lie, cheat and steal from your fan base and have the nerve to say you serve them in any way?
So the reason I'm mad, nay pissed off! Is because Sony could have helped us all avoid any conflict about resolution by just being honest about the game. They pushed resolution like it was the single most important thing in gaming. They egged on consumers, harassed Microsoft and in turn it caused the ignorant fanboys to harass Xbox One owners and Microsoft as a whole. Resolution was the only thing worth talking about, the only thing we'd see on the "big" gaming sites. All I saw in comments about every single Xbox One article on any site or even Facebook was some lame comment about 720p. Sony could have stopped this by being honest and up front, but it's not in their nature. Sony is one of the shiftiest companies I've ever seen. They want to look like the cool older brother who gives his younger brother beer and cigarettes. The problem with this mentality is that when you mess up, and everyone messes up sometime...you need to pay the price. This is something that in and of itself isn't a big deal. So what if Killzone is 720p right? I agree that part of the story isn't noteworthy, but the lies and the egging on is something that is cringe-worthy. We all should have been able to just enjoy our games no matter the resolution, but now that Sony has helped open that can of worms I'm sure their fans and Sony themselves wish we would all just take the high ground and forget it right? As if us Xbox One owners and gamers haven't heard it 24/7 for months on end about 1080p. Turns out Xbox One is the only console with a next-gen only exclusive that is 1080p 60fps (Forza Motorsport 5).
1.Xbox One games don't have to be 1080p and we don't have to worry about idiotic backlash from Sony fanboys.
2.The really hypocritical fanboys can now act like they never cared about resolution in the first place.
3.Sony will probably deny having any knowledge and the hardcore fanboys will once again believe it.
4.All the Sony fanboys who said they could tell what 1080p looked like now themselves look like complete idiots.
5.Resolution doesn't matter, it never mattered. Some misguided gamers let it matter because Sony was promoting it like it matter. The PS4 armor is looking weaker by the day.
Now to put this into perspective, what if it were found out that Forza Motorsport 5 had not been 1080p 60fps. What would we have seen on all these big sites? I'll leave you with that thought. #Hypocrisy
